Her Story: Exploring the Lives of Strong Women
Women have always shown strength in shaping their lives and the world around them. In this book discussion group we read and talk about fiction and nonfiction that highlights the courage, resilience and experiences of women past and present.
This month's book is Snow Flower and The Secret Fan by Lisa See. This evocative story of friendship is set against the backdrop of a nineteenth-century China in which women suffered from foot binding, isolation, and illiteracy. It follows an elderly woman and her companion as they communicate their hopes, dreams, joys, and tragedies through a unique secret language written on a fan.
