Morbid curiosity, or an interest in unpleasant things, is a human reaction captivating individuals across the nation. True crime media consumption, ranging from books to podcasts to documentaries, has grown rapidly in popularity and this book club leans into that. We may also touch on topics of cults, the paranormal and dark history as we explore the dangerous and more frightening side of the library's collection.
This month we will discuss Over My Dead Body: Unearthing the Hidden History of America's Cemeteries by Greg Melville. Before his senior year in college, Greg worked at his hometown cemetery caring for grounds. As he walked the grounds hour after hour, his interest in the history of cemeteries grew. Over My Dead Body explores the history of several U.S. cemeteries, their influence on other aspects of life and how, where and why we bury the dead.
