8 Mujeres 8 is a beautiful tapestry of history, video, sound recordings and live music and dance dedicated to women who helped to shape the art form of Flamenco. 45° Flamenco brings bi-lingual performances to the general public that educate and entertain all ages. This very special performance spans five generations of women in the art of flamenco song, dance and guitar. We will outline typical struggles faced by these women in the times that they lived and the struggles of today.
45° performers include Beau Bledsoe- Guitarist, music director and founder of Ensemble Iberica, Antonio Rojas- Singer and musician from Sevilla, Spain, John Currey- Percussionist who specializes in rhythms from Mexico and Spain, Margaret Gordon- Flamenco dancer with experience living and dancing in Jerez, Spain, Zhanna Saparova- Flamenco dancer and teacher and Melinda Hedgecorth- Flamenco dancer, choreographer and producer of multiple programs including 8 Mujeres 8.
