The IRS volunteer income tax assistance (VITA) program is a free tax preparation service sponsored by K-State Shawnee county extension. VITA provides IRS-certified volunteer income tax preparers to assist with basic income tax returns preparation for qualified individuals, which include low to moderate incomes, senior adults, and those with disabilities, to name a few qualifiers. Call (785) 969-9951 to schedule an appointment. The library provides space for this program, but the processes and procedures are determined by VITA site coordinators to determine scope.
