Morbid curiosity, or an interest in unpleasant things, is a human reaction captivating individuals across the nation. True crime media consumption, ranging from books to podcasts to documentaries, has grown rapidly in popularity and this book club leans into that. We may also touch on topics of cults, the paranormal and dark history as we explore the dangerous and more frightening side of the library's collection.
This month we will discuss Death in the Air: The True Story of a Serial Killer, the Great London Smog and the Strangling of a City by Kate Winkler Dawson. In London in the Winter of 1952, two killers lurk. One a smog so thick it strangles the city and kills 12,000 people, the other John Reginald Christie a serial killer at large taking the lives of at least seven women.
