KTWU PBS is excited to announce their collaboration that brings Elmo to the library on Saturday, October 10, 2026. The free family event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon and will feature story time, the sneak-peek screening, a Safari Drum performance and interactive drumming experience, a build-your-own elephant stuffy activity*, and photo opportunities with Elmo. The Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library was one of only five libraries nationwide selected to host Elmo and share an exclusive sneak peek of part of his new broadcast special “Sesame Street and the Great Elephant Adventure.”
Curious about Elmo’s new show? "The Great Elephant Adventure" Elmo and the Sesame Street friends travel to Kenya’s, The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, to meet an orphaned elephant they adopted online. They embark on Sesame Street's first-ever African safari, encountering lions, zebras, giraffes and hippos along the way. Presented in collaboration with Sesame Workshop. The full length special can be viewed when it premieres as part of Nature’s 45th season on Wednesday, October 14 on PBS and PBS KIDS.
*Elephant stuffies are available while supplies last.
