The Washburn International Film Institute Film Festival is a free event designed for the Topeka community.
Christian Watkins is a filmmaker from Kansas. She has a background in religious studies, international politics, and U.S. Educational Policy. Currently, she serves as an ordained minister and Executive Director of Ecumenical Campus Ministry (development) at Kansas State University. She loves to be a part of communities who care about the world and strive to make a positive impact. Christian is also finishing her dissertation on political violence in local elections. She has been an Associate Producer for “The Pulpit” (@thepulpitfilm_), a suspense thriller that tells the story of a rural pastor who receives death threats for the message of inclusion she preaches. Christian became connected with this film through the WIFI Film Festival at Washburn—where she spoke about “The Pulpit” in 2023 and later, “Film and Religion” in 2024. She values creativity more than her sleep and cannot wait to join such a dynamic team
Stay tuned for an exciting and inspiring workshop experience with Christian this year at WIFI—this is one you won’t want to miss!
