Multidisciplinary artist Mona Cliff, competition juror, will announce the Juror Awards, share insights on works chosen for the exhibit and highlight what artists look for in other artists' work.
The Topeka Competition is built from artist submissions and juried by a prominent artist in the field. For the 34th Topeka Competition all entries were three dimensional works (anything from ceramics to jewelry to sculpture).
This year’s Topeka Competition is juried by Mona Cliff (A’aninin/Nakota Nations). Cliff, a multidisciplinary visual artist, explores the subject of contemporary Indigenous identity and culture through her use of traditional Native crafting methods such as seed bead embroidery and fabric applique. Cliff selected the pieces for the exhibit based on originality, technical excellence and artistic concept.
