This month we will talk about any young adult fiction you've been reading. Whether you loved it or hated it, we want to hear what you think! Chat books with other readers.
In 2025 we are exploring the genres through a year-long club, Journey Through Genres! A genre is a category of books that follow a similar form and/or have similar content.
At the beginning of each month, learn about the genre of the month via our library blog post from an avid reader of the genre. If you need help picking a book, reach out to us. Your friendly librarians are here to help.
To wrap up each genre of the month, join us in the readers lounge at the library to chat about the good, the bad, and the ugly of the genre with fellow readers. In this month’s meeting we will chat about your Young Adult (YA) Fiction. As a bonus, we will have library staff on hand to help you select your book for June’s genre of the month!
What is YA fiction?
Generally this genre is composed of leading characters in their mid to late teens. These are often coming of age stories where protagonists deal with complicated friendships, feelings and self-identity. This genre serves to ease the transition between middle grade and adult fiction, but no matter how old you get, it’s always a great genre to dive back into!
