Visit with an avid reader about your love of horror fiction or learn about it if you've never read horror. Share your favorite books and we'll share ours. This is a casual talk not a presentation.
Horror fiction might be the most divisive of all the fiction genres. Love it or hate it, people seem to always fall into one of those two camps. Why do the readers who devour horror tales seem to do it so voraciously? It could be that horror stories allow us to imagine the unimaginable. Horror takes us places we would never really want to go. But we get to experience those trips from in-between the pages and the safety of our own homes. Horror shines a light on our deepest fears as much as it shines a light on society and human behavior. Good vs. evil. Known vs. the unknown. Life vs. death. These are some of the most basic plights of humankind.
If you look a little deeper, horror novels are just as likely to deliver an important message as fictional literature, though some might say the ride is more fun. Meet our resident horror reader. He won't let you leave without a scary story for your nightstand.
