Science fiction is a genre that explores the possibility of worlds that could exist and are often rich in detail about futuristic technology and science. Though the elements explored in science fiction may be unknown, they are not magical because of their strict adherence to science. Many nonreaders of the genre may find it intimidating, but there's nothing to fear! Science fiction exists on a scale from hard to soft. Soft science fiction explores more of the cultural and societal side of future scientific possibilities, while hard science fiction focuses in more specifically on ensuring mathematical science accuracy.
