Marvin Auditorium 101BCThree cheers for chocolate! Come learn about the history of chocolate by Hazel Hill employees-Topeka's own local, made from scratch chocolate shop and sample some local chocolate goodies!
Hazel Hill will share the origins of the cacao plant and how humans moved it from South/Central American origins to being cultivated globally (Americas, Africa, Asia). Learn about the evolution from an ancient American beverage to the food that we are all familiar with now and, the best part, taste a spiced cacao beverage sample! Hear Hazel Hill's story including family history of current owner, Nick Xidis', Greek grandfather who learned chocolatier and confectionary as part of his immigrant journey, with more chocolate samples from different origins all over the world. Many of Hazel Hills single origin bars have won international recognition and you'll learn why!
