In 2025 we are exploring the genres through a year-long club, Journey Through Genres! A genre is a category of books that follow a similar form and/or have similar content.
At the beginning of each month, learn about the genre of the month via our library blog post from an avid reader of the genre. Choose any book from the month's selected genre and read! If you need help picking a book, reach out to us. Your friendly librarians are here to help.
To wrap up each genre of the month, join us in the readers lounge at the library to chat about the good, the bad and the ugly of the genre with fellow readers. In this month’s meeting we will chat about your historical fiction reading from March. As a bonus, we will have library staff with recommendations for April’s genre of the month!
Historical fiction is genre in which the story take place in the past, often during significant time periods, such as around World Wars. These stories aim to recreate the past with characters who may be entirely fictional or based on real people from that time period. Though these stories are not entirely true, they often aim to accurately detail history using the author's research.
