This book club is not for the faint of heart. Come at your own risk as we discuss the darker side of books. This month we will discuss The Fact of a Body: A Murder and Memoir.
Morbid curiosity, or an interest in unpleasant things, is a human reaction captivating individuals across the nation. True crime media consumption, ranging from books to podcasts to documentaries, has grown rapidly in popularity. This book club leans into that morbid curiosity to explore the dangerous and more frightening side of the library's collection.
This month we will discuss The Fact of a Body: A Murder and Memoir by Alexandria Marzano-Lesnevich. Believing she is anti-death penalty, Marzano-Lesnevich is surprised when she is overcome with a feeling of wanting a convicted murderer, Ricky Langley, dead. Confused by her feelings Marzano-Lesnevich reexamines what she knows and as she dives deeper into Langley’s history she begins to uncover her own family’s secrets that affect her view of Langley’s crime.
